STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF MAXWELL DUBE

The South Africa National Editors’ Forum (Sanef) is shocked at the sudden death last night of Cosmo City Chronicle Publisher and Editor, Maxwell Dube, who was also a member of Council of Sanef. Dube (57) collapsed last night as he left his office after finalizing this week’s edition of Cosmo City. He was rushed to Olivedale Hospital but died soon after while being wheeled into a laboratory for scans to be done.
Dube leaves his wife Leocardia and two sons Mtho and Tshepo.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.

Sanef Chairperson Mahlatse Gallens said yesterday: “On behalf of myself, our management committee, his colleagues at Council and our entire membership, we have sent our collective condolences to the family at this tragic loss. Maxwell was a highly principled and committed editor and publisher who participated fully in meetings and debates, always making inputs designed to build. He was a steadfast believer in freedom of the media and was always ready to volunteer to do work for Sanef. His death is a serious loss to the media industry.”
