Sanef Mourns the Passing of Moses Moyo, Editor and Publisher at Inner City Gazette Newspaper
26 October 2018
The South African National Editors’ Forum (Sanef) is devastated at the passing of journalist Moses Moyo.
He passed away last night, following a short illness. SANEF extends its deepest condolences to all his family, friends and colleagues. Our prayers are with the Moyo family as they mourn his sudden passing.
Moyo was a long standing, SANEF council member who was deeply passionate and committed to strengthening media freedom, promoting ethical journalism and defending the public’s right to know.
With his charming smile and quiet demeanor, Moses had an unparalleled passion for covering community news and putting issues that directly affect communities at the forefront.
This made him hugely popular among city residents, especially those living in the Johannesburg metro.
He had recently expanded his business, the popular Inner City Gazette, to cover the Tshwane metro area and he was looking forward to further growing the paper.
With his wealth of experience in community media, he was part of SANEF’s newly formed sub-committee on community media that seeks to strengthen this critical section of our industry, ensure its sustainability and bring to the fore the challenges it faces.
The journalism fraternity has lost a committed comrade but we are certain Moses’s legacy will live on.
Lala ngoxolo dear friend!
