Sanef hopes justice will prevail following the arrest of suspects in the case of Aserie Ndlovu and his partner
06 May 2025
The South African National Editors’ Forum (Sanef) welcomes the arrest of suspects concerning the disappearance of journalist Aserie Ndlovu and his partner.
The breakthrough made by the South African Police Service was long overdue, as Ndlovu and his partner, Zodwa Mdhuli, have been missing for the past three months. Ndlovu runs Capital Live FM and was a key member of the National Press Club, a stakeholder organisation that works closely with Sanef.
Sanef hopes the criminal justice system will get to the bottom of this case, even after the initial charges have been altered.
The four suspects must tell the truth about the couple’s whereabouts. They should be reunited with their loved ones.
Sanef has always spoken out against any criminality directed towards journalists, and we have always been clear about condemning such.
South Africa is engulfed by crime, and every effort is being made to fight it. Hence, such arrests are welcomed and, should the suspects be found guilty, hopefully, will see them behind bars.
We are encouraged that the search for the missing couple continues. Sanef will closely watch developments regarding this matter.
