Sanef Mourns the Passing of Sibonelo Radebe, Business Editor at the Conversation Africa
22 October 2018
The South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) mourns the passing of Sibonelo Radebe, business editor at the Conversation Africa.
SANEF remembers Sibonelo as an insightful journalist, with a deep understanding of various fields, especially the business and political economy of South Africa.
His career spanned 20 years and during this time he worked for some of the country’s leading publications including Business Day, the Financial Mail and The New Age.
He was an independent thinker who challenged many of the commonly held beliefs and dogmas, about journalism itself, and what a free press ought to do in maintaining our hard-won freedom and creating a prosperous nation.
SANEF is deeply saddened by this loss to the media industry. His cheerful personality and trademark piercing sense of humour endeared him to many colleagues, whom he both challenged and inspired to think critically.
We send our deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues at the Conversation and across the entire media industry.
May his soul rest in peace.
