SANEF Statement on Death of Journalist Mandy Rossouw
The South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) is deeply saddened by the loss of Media 24 and Eyewitness News journalist Mandy Rossouw, who passed away at her home on Monday night.
Mandy had achieved an enormous amount in a relatively young career. She broke important political stories at Beeld, the Mail & Guardian and City Press and provided sharp analysis to EWN listeners. She was also quick to realise the potential of digital platforms and social media for both reporting and engagement with her audience, and helped to introduce other journalists to these powerful new tools.
Throughout her working life, but as particularly International Correspondent for Media 24 she focused on the important but gravely under-reported area of foreign policy and diplomacy.
The journalism community will miss Mandy both personally and professionally. Our thoughts and condolences go to her family, her colleagues and her many friends.
