ACCESS TO INFORMATION & MEDIA POLICY

The SANEF sub-committee on Access to Information & Media Policy was established to address critical issues related to media freedom and the public’s right to information in South Africa.

Its formation is driven by the need to ensure freedom of expression and enhance access to information, aligning with SANEF’s overarching goal of shaping a media landscape that is transparent, inclusive, and open. The sub-committee focuses on advocating for “openness” in various domains, including government, data, budgets, justice, regulation, and elections. These efforts collectively aim to foster a media environment where information is freely accessible, promoting greater civic engagement and ensuring that the public can fully exercise their rights to information and expression.
